The standardization of Nigeria pidgin seems to have started during the post-colonial period.Naturally,Nigeria pidgin English appears to be the first choice of most Nigerians in informal situations,especially when they are among those from different ethnic and linguistic backgrounds.thus, selection process has tactically take place.Among all the languages used today in Nigeria,English inclusive,Nigeria pidgin English could be said to be the most widely spoken.
Evidence abounds in motto parks,parties,congregations,and most social occasions.There is also ample evidence in the electronics and print media,social media,especially in political propaganda,campaigns and product advertisement.thus, in terns of spread and extensive use ,Nigeria pidgin could be describe or called our national linqual franca. The us of Nigeria pidgin in contemporary Nigeria could be described as most productive ,extensive and complex.
It appeared that the standardization process-selection,codification,elaboration of function and acceptance-which started in the past-colonial era,are now being completed in contemporary Nigeria.the reason for this assumption is simple.
